Heritage Chevrolet in the Community
Being a good, locally driven dealership means far more than moving vehicles off the lot. Beyond sales and service, it means showing up for the community that shows up for you. Heritage Chevrolet in Battle Creek has spent years building relationships with the organizations and causes that make Southwest Michigan a better place to live, work and raise a family. As a CARFAX® Top-Rated Dealer and Mark of Excellence recipient, we believe that the same values that guide our service experience guide our community involvement: honesty, dedication and a genuine commitment to doing right by our neighbors.
Our team gives back in a number of ways, from donating a dollar to local charities for every oil change performed at our service center to employee paycheck contributions to the United Way and our annual classic car show that celebrates Battle Creek's automotive heritage.
Here is a look at the organizations and causes we are proud to support.
Empowering Local Youth and Education
Heritage Chevrolet believes that investing in young people is one of the most important things a local business can do. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Michigan creates and supports mentoring relationships that ignite the potential of youth throughout the Battle Creek area, matching adult volunteers with local children to help them build confidence and find success in school and life.
Junior Achievement of Southwest Michigan brings hands-on financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programs to K-12 classrooms across the region, sending local volunteers into schools to prepare the next generation for the modern economy. Complementing that work, the Calhoun Area Career Center gives high school students in Calhoun County direct pathways to employment or post-secondary education through technical training in fields ranging from health sciences and aviation to welding and criminal justice.
We also support Q Branch Robotics at Lakeview High School, building real STEM skills and teamwork through the challenge of designing, building and programming competition robots for FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). Another cause we're proud of is supporting the Bobby Holley Bike Program, which provides free bicycles to children in need through an annual essay contest, promoting physical health and independence in Battle Creek youth.
On the higher education side, we are proud to support the Battle Creek Community Foundation scholarship efforts -- which provides financial assistance to graduating high school students who have demonstrated academic effort and community commitment -- as well as the Kellogg Community College Foundation, which ensures that Kellogg Community College remains accessible and affordable for Battle Creek residents pursuing a better future through education.
Health, Wellness and Family Support
Heritage Chevrolet team members are proud contributors to the United Way of South Central Michigan, donating directly through payroll to help fund local programs that fight poverty and support families in crisis. The United Way's focus on education, financial stability and health aligns closely with the values we bring to our own work every day.
We support the Alzheimer's Association -- Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, which provides around-the-clock resources, education and advocacy for Battle Creek families navigating Alzheimer's and dementia, and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Southwest Michigan, an annual community walk that raises critical funds for research, equity and patient services through the American Cancer Society.
For families in our own backyard, we support S.A.F.E. Place, a Battle Creek shelter and resource center that provides emergency housing, crisis support and legal advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Charitable Union provides free clothing, bedding and household items to individuals and families in need, helping Battle Creek residents dress for success in school, at work and in daily life.
Love Thy Neighbor Ministries addresses food insecurity in our community through regular distribution programs rooted in dignity and compassion. And The MomCo is a nonprofit organization that's dedicated to providing support, resources and community for mothers at various stages of their motherhood journey.
Celebrating Local Culture and Conservation
Heritage Chevrolet is proud to support the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy, which preserves the wild and scenic places of our region by protecting wetlands, forests and prairies for future generations.
Each summer, the Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival brings world-class aerobatic performances and hot air balloon launches to Battle Creek, drawing spectators from across the country for one of the area's premier community events. Alongside it, our Military Appreciation Outing provides dedicated recognition for active-duty service members and veterans in our community -- a heartfelt thank-you to those who serve.
On the arts side, the Brass Band of Battle Creek brings world-renowned musicians to our region while delivering educational outreach to local students, and the Barn Theatre in nearby Augusta -- one of the oldest equity summer-stock theaters in the nation -- continues to enrich the cultural life of Southwest Michigan with professional productions each season. We also support the Jeff Edgell Memorial Outing, an annual gathering that celebrates Jeff's legacy while raising funds for local charities and bringing the community together in his memory.
